Newsgroups: alt.tech-support.recovery Subject: The Question that makes me want to maim people and the answer we would like to give them From: friction@the-g-spot.org(asm) (Tristen:god@tcsn.net) Organization: the man show Approved: God Date: Thu, 01 Jul 1999 17:49:08 GMT What every tech wishes he/she could say to that one question that drives us to dementia: Why doesn't my computer work? Customer: Why doesn't my computer work? (In that always-indignant tone they seem to have preinstalled in their technically retarded wet ware hard drive they call their brain) Tech: Entropy! Customer: Entro-what? Tech: It's like this... there is a finite amount of energy in the universe. And energy can't be created or destroyed, but it can be changed into a different forms i.e.. light to heat and electricity to light, and when that happens some energy is lost as heat. Ok? Customer: EeHH? Tech: Ok, so the universe is expanding, right.? Customer: The what? Tech: This leads us the second Law of Thermodynamics, or Entropy! Customer: Entro-who? Tech: So the universe is expanding, there is a finite amount of energy in the universe and energy is being defused, as low grade heat, into the vast freezing expanses of our universe. So there is less energy for earth, and everything for that fact. In other word thing are less efficient, things get weaker, you car gets worse gas mileage, all sort of things like that. Basically the natural order of things is to go from order to chaos; from more energy to less. Customer: UUUHHHHH? Tech: So ultimately your computer will act up more and more the long you have it. OK? Customer: O-o-o-k-k. Tech: Have a nice day! Customer: Thank-thank-you.
